Taking a good care of your jewellery helps to retain its original sparkle and shine and keep it scratch free for longer. Buying hand-crafted piece of precious metal jewellery is an investment, therefore jewellery care is such an important subject.

I have put together an easy-to-follow care guide to help to protect your precious pieces.

To keep your jewellery looking lovely for a long time, please remember to remove it when showering, swimming or doing any manual or domestic work. If you are applying creams, please take your rings off first and try not to spray perfume or hairspray directly on to your jewellery.

It’s recommended to store your jewellery in the gift box it arrives in or in a larger jewellery box. For silver jewellery, the gift box also contains a small anti tarnish tab, which helps against tarnishing. It’s better to store your jewellery pieces on its own, to prevent scratches or any other manual damage. If possible, please store your jewellery in a cool, dry place as it doesn’t like heat or moisture.

From time-to-time, your precious metal jewellery requires a good clean. Soap, cream and make-up build ups can really dull your metals and also the gemstones. The easiest way you can bring the sparkle back to your silver and gold jewellery is to use warm water, washing up liquid and a soft toothbrush. Gently soak your jewellery in the soapy water, then give it a light brush. When caring for gemstone jewellery, then brush inside the back of the setting and around the gemstone, rinse the soap off with warm water, dry with a soft cloth and finish with a soft polishing cloth if you have one.

Polishing cloths for silver & gold will help to maintain and restore the sparkle of your precious metal jewellery. Sterling Silver can tarnish over time and through wear. To prevent this and give it a lasting shine, polish it frequently with a silver polish cloth.
